Some foods have being shown to contain powerful protective substances called antimutagens (the vitamins A, C & E are known antimutagens). These help to protect us from developing cancer & are also likely to help prevent genetic defects in rapidly dividing sperm cells & ova. In 1978, scientists from the Japanese institute of genetics tested 59 fruits & vegetables & almost all were found to counteract poisons which damage dividing cells (mutagens). Among the best were mint leaves, parsley, ginger, garlic, shallots, broccoli, green peppers, cabbage, cauliflower and pineapple.
